Junior Eco Rangers Program ... great fun for kids aged 5-14 years
This popular program runs every school holidays in addition to the resort's regular weekly activities. Run by the experienced team of Rangers, these fun and interactive sessions teach children to care for the environment and everything in it. The program is designed for kids 5-12 years and includes art and crafts, beach fun, games, scavenger hunts, campfire with stories, songs and marshmallows, marine life by night, spotlighting for animals, movie nights and more. Morning and evening programs are available with lunch or dinner included. Charges apply.

Dune - an all-new dining experience will tantalise the senses. Join this vibrant culinary journey and indulge in the curated Asian fusion menu , the bold beverage list and cocktails. Open daily for dinner from 5:30pm to 9:00pm. Bookings are essential.
Sand & Wood - overlooking the resort's main pool, this is the perfect place to start your day. Chefs have created a variety of menu options drawing on flavours and influences from Australia, Asia and the Pacific. Takeaway meals are also available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Open daily for breakfast 6:30am to 10:00am, lunch 11:30am to 4:00pm and dinner 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Bookings are required for dinner.
Sunset Bar - retreat to the western beach, sip on a refreshing cocktail, laze comfortably in one of the beach bean bags, chill out to coastal tunes and mingle with fellow travellers. The choice is yours! Open daily from 9:30am.
The Sand Bar & Bistro - this casual dining experience features a stunning bush location, just a short stroll to the beach. Perfect for a quick meal, pizza, bistro options and more substantial items including pan fried salmon, spare ribs and Surf & Turf. Open Friday to Tuesday for lunch and dinner. Takeaways are available.
Shopping Village Cafe - the place to pick up a picnic or take a coffee break.
Island Day Spa
Nestled amongst the native wallum, the Island Day Spa offers a tranquil environment for you to rest, reflect and relax. With an array of nourishing treatments and soothing rituals, this specially-designed sanctuary has spacious treatment rooms, a relaxation area and lifestyle boutique which subtly reflect the pristine natural beauty of Fraser Island. Couples treatments and massages are available. Open on selected days from 9:00am to 4:30pm. Bookings are required.
Things to Do
Fraser Island is not just a four-wheel driving beach adventure. Kingfisher Bay is a true beach holiday destination where you can stroll along deserted beaches leaving footprints in the sand, sip cocktails as the sun sets over the sea and count the stars in the clear southern sky. Find your own private spot on the beach to watch the sun set over the sea or gather at the Jetty Hut bar. The Jetty Hut is also where you can book activities and water sports including hire of stand-up paddle boards, kayaks and Vu boards.
Ranger-Guided Bushwalks & Talks - Join the rangers on walks and talks throughout the day. Spot some of the 354 species that frequent the island. Find out how plants survive in sand and how the Aborigines and early European settlers used plants for food and medicine. Come behind the scenes and see how Australia's leading environmental resort operates. On a night walk turn the spotlight on rare acid frogs, insectivorous bats and sugar gliders as they move through the trees.
Full Day Ranger-Guided 4WD Tour - Tours visit the island's beauty spots including Lake McKenzie, Central Station, Wanggoolba Creek and Pile Valley. Drive along famous Seventy-Five Mile Beach, swim in Eli Creek, photograph the Maheno ship wreck and see the coloured sands of the Pinnacles. The tours areconducted in modern, air-conditioned 4WD coaches. Morning tea, afternoon refreshments and a hot and cold buffet lunch are included. Pre booking is advised.
Whale Watching Cruise (Aug-Oct Only) - Cruise out to the calm waters of Platypus Bay to watch the gentle giants at play in the calm waters just off Fraser Island. They'll blow your mind! Experienced crew will add to the enjoyment of your day by explaining the whales' behaviour and making the tour educational and entertaining. The vessel is equipped with a hydrophone which allows you to listen to the musical call of the whales. Pre booking is advised.
Segway PT Adventures - Join the Rangers on a one-hour eco-adventure across the sands of Kingfisher Bay with the fleet of Segways. On this 60 minute adventure, guests use these two-wheeled, off-road adventure machines to manoeuvre along the inter-tidal zones and across the varied terrain on Fraser's western side. Sessions are tide and weather dependent and will run three hours before or three hours after high tide on the beach in the Great Sandy National Park.
Getting Here
Kingfisher Bay Ferry has four services to the resort each day from River Heads and return. The ferry has two decks with a fully licensed bar and snack food available. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes and pre-booking is required.
Kingfisher Bay Resort Mainland Reception is located at Shop 7/54 River Heads Shopping Village, River Heads Road, River Heads (approx. 20km south of Hervey Bay). Note: River Heads Road becomes Ariadne Street at the Shopping Village. Guests are advised to arrive at the mainland reception 40 minutes prior to ferry departure for check in. A courtesy shuttle from the Mainland Reception to the ferry will leave 10 minutes prior to ferry departure time for walk-on passengers. Self-drivers will be given further instruction by the Reception team.
Secure car park facilities are adjacent to to the River Heads Mainland Reception and are open from 8:00am to 6:30pm. Upon check-in at Mainland Reception, guests will be issued with a secure pin number to gain access to the parking facilities. There is limited availability so pre-booking is highly recommended (charges apply).
Please check ferry times carefully before booking airfares and allow enough travelling time. The travelling time across the Great Sandy Strait is 50 minutes and it is approximately 15 minutes from the airport to River Heads.
